Contract negotiations at Joliet Junior College are always interesting due the fact that the College Board of Trustees take a very active interest in the wages and benefits of employees and are extremely vigilant in how public funds are expended.  That being said, the negotiating teams representing the Labor Council and the College had a very good working relationship, but yet needed the assistance of Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service (FMCS) to come to agreement.

After about 6 months at the bargaining table an agreement was reached providing a 2% wage increases per year for four years, role call pay for sergeants, increases to uniform allowances and some modest, but accelerated movement through the pay steps.  Some contract language was cleaned up to help both sides better understand existing benefits.  Bargaining team members were Randall Graves, Jeff Smith and Paul Jerantowski and were assisted by ILFOP Labor Council Field Representative Keith Turney.
