City of Blue Island Police Officers have reached agreement on a new contract.  The term is 3 years and eight months due to a change in the City fiscal year.  Sergeants, Corporals, and Patrol Officers, who are all covered by the Agreement, will realize nearly an 8% salary increase over the term. A new 12-hour shift, which is now incorporated into the contract, will result in all members attaining a higher pensionable salary.  All members will accrue vacation, sick leave, and personal leave based on the 12 hour schedule. Compensatory time was increased and use of part time officers was limited. Light Duty as well as Light Duty for pregnant members is now detailed in the contract The Agreement now provides for removal of discipline from personnel files under certain circumstances.  The bargaining process with the City was long and difficult, but the local team persevered and a solid new Agreement was reached without Interest Arbitration. They are to be congratulated for their efforts
