24 Hour Critical Incident Hotline: 877-IFOP-911

By Keith Turney, Field Representative - Tuesday, June 16, 2015

North Aurora Sergeants are very dedicated to their community and their department. When patrol officers agreed to go to twelve hour shifts it was readily expected that the Sergeants would follow suit.   As contract talks started for a successor contract, the twelve hour shifts were at the heart of discussions.  Sergeants agreed to work additional hours related to twelve hour shifts at straight time in order to increase their base pay and build their cost of living increases on an increased base.  Uniform allowances were increased to keep pace with inflation and cash out provisions for holidays and vacations were made part of the agreement.  A North Aurora Sergeant will take home a base pay in excess of $111,000 at the end of the contract which goes for three years.  Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council Field Representative Keith Turney was quoted as saying: “The North Aurora Sergeants are experienced leaders who made my job easy.  They have a great rapport with their Chief and Village Officials.  They were methodical and calculating in their deliberations and understood where there was room for give and take at the bargaining table.  They are a compliment to their profession.”
