The recently completed Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Sergeants in Sugar Grove was the first for the bargaining unit.  The unit was certified by the Illinois Labor Relations Board late in 2008 and more than three years of very difficult bargaining ensued.  The Labor Council prevailed in its two most important goals for the unit, to obtain a very significant wage increase and to have the right to grievance and arbitrate all discipline.  Wages rose by more than 10% immediately followed by three annual increases of 2% each.  Retro pay was considerable for the members of the bargaining unit given the size of the increase and the length of the negotiations.
