The recently concluded negotiations in Gurnee are noteworthy for one major and innovative change made to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.  It introduces a true cost of living clause to determine wages, or at least something very close.  Wages will be determined under the Collective Bargaining Agreement by the rise in the CPI for the metro Chicago Area with a cap of 3%.  The wage increase was calculated consistent with this formula. Both the employer and the members of the bargaining team were seeking a way out of the traditionally more conflictive negotiations over wages every few years and decided on this innovative approach. We congratulate the members of the bargaining team who hammered out this agreement.
