Eighteen months of protracted negotiations with the City of Herrin paid off when, on the eve of interest arbitration, the Herrin Bargaining Team - which consisted of Sgt. Jimmie Loyd and Officer Tom Murrah - achieved multiple breakthroughs, including four years of wage increases whereby all longevity steps are increased by .90/hr, .95/hr, $1.00/hr, and $1.00/hr; additionally, the distance between all longevity steps will be increased by .05 in FY15 and again in FY16.  They also gained the right to grieve all discipline; first shot at all overtime before part-timers; and expanded residency rights.  Their fellow officers will benefit from their dedication, patience and excellent bargaining skills for years to come.
