The dedication of our members never ceases to amaze me and Downers Grove is no exception to this perception.  As the first contract for Telecommunicators neared its end the unit was well prepared to get back to the bargaining table.  Local representatives Tammy Krzeminski and Yvette Colon once again volunteered many an off duty hour to negotiate a fair contract between the telecommunicators and the Village, building on the strong foundation that they established the first time around.  Highlights of the agreement are an additional vacation day after 15 years of service, enhancements to vacation selection procedures, 5% in wage increases over three years along with bonus performance money after 7 and 15 years respectively.  Additional clothing allowance was also negotiated equaling $450 a year.  Overall Downers Grove is a strong labor area as can be recently seen by the Downers Grove Sergeants joining the Labor Council.  We wish them well as they continue to build on a strong tradition.
